IVNC 2014: a retrospective

The 27th International Vacuum Nanoelectronics conference was a resounding success with over 140 participants from 20 countries.

Organized by the Paul Scherrer Institute, a Swiss national large facility center, with the support from EMPA and Uni Bern, topical sessions on the ultrafast electron sources, X-ray applications, and high-electric-field breakdown sessions were presented with the technical sessions on fabrication, theory, and measurement of novel field emission devices, together with the papers on the carbon and novel field emission materials. We will see if this trend continue in the future.
