Biography

Dr. Soichiro Tsujino studied electronics and received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Tokyo, Japan, in 1996. He was then appointed by the Japan Science and Technology Corporation for studying linear and nonlinear physics of optical excitation of a two-dimensional electron gas between 1997-2001, worked at University of Tokyo and also at University of California (Santa Barbara), and joined in 2001 the Laboratory of Micro-and Nanotechnology (LMN), Photon Science Division, at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI). Since 2006, he was engaged in field emitter research for low-emittance, ultrafast, and coherent beam applications. His recent work includes R&D of high-throughput protein crystallography instrument using ultrasound acoustic levitation. Since 2020, he is in the Division of Biology and Chemistry, PSI.

S. Tsujino organized IVNC 2014 in Engelberg, Switzerland with J. Gobrecht. From 2014 until 2018, he served as the Chair of International Steering Committee, International Vacuum Nanoelectronics Conference of IVNC.
