Biography

Frank-Holm Roegner was born in Dresden, Germany 1962. He studied physics in Dresden (Germany) and received his degree (Dipl.-Phys.) in physics from the Technische Universität Dresden in 1988. At the Institute for Low Temperature Physics, TU Dresden, he started research on glass like behavior of single crystals under low temperatures and high hydrostatic pressure.

In 1998 he joined Fraunhofer FEP, Dresden, Germany, to work on PVD coating of metal strips using electron beam evaporation as project manager of national and international research and development projects. 2002 he was one of the founder member of Frauhofer Cleaning Technology Alliance and he is still active in this field e.g. as a leading referent for the annual course “Cleaning Technology for industrial Production”. 2008 he became the Head of Department Electron Beam Processes at Fraunhofer FEP. His major research interests are electron beam technologies for a wide field of application from melting, joining, micro-structuring up to curing, crosslinking and sterilization. Mr. Roegner is a member of iiA, RADTech Europe and the working group “Application of Particle Accelerators in Europe” APAE.
